The Expressive Arts Academy Awards

On Monday 19th October The Expressive Arts Faculty hosted its annual Academy Awards event. This year the event had to take on a different format.

Usually we set up in Wingfield Hall with a red carpet, the spotlight on, awards and certificates at the front of the room waiting for the winners and everyone dressed in their finery. The Covid-19 restrictions meant that this would not be possible this year. We still wanted to recognise the outstanding achievement, commitment and effort during the last academic year in Art, Drama, Music and Photography so we moved to a virtual event.

The event was premiered at 7pm on the Monday evening. All the winners had been sent a letter with the link to watch the virtual ceremony. The event culminated in the presentation of the highest achieving award, ‘The Faculty Fellowship Award’, which went to Kim Wells who not only studied subjects within the faculty but gave many hours outside of lessons to school shows, concerts and events and had been doing so since she was in year 7. We are now on the look-out for students to nominate for next year…could it be you!?

We are delighted to be able to share with you all our Academy Awards event. If you would like to watch it please click on the link below:
