While the school site is certainly much quieter at the moment, there is still the wonderful buzz of learning going on within the John of Gaunt community. Most of our students are learning at home, accessing their normal timetable of lessons via Microsoft Teams. This gives them the opportunity to see their teachers and classmates, continue with their curriculum and have regular feedback about their learning – all through their computer, tablet or mobile phone screens. Lessons are also accessed by the small group of students who need to come into school each day, in their year group bubble computer suites.
We have been so pleased with how well our students, across all year groups, have adapted to online remote learning. Some have been trialling break-out rooms in Teams lessons, so they can do group work and have discussions as they would in the classroom. Many have been using the Class Notebook or apps such as Padlet to share their work with teachers. We are very proud that we can continue to offer high quality teaching and learning opportunities for our students and their engagement and resilience has been brilliant. Well done everyone!
